The premiere of a recent Nigerian – Ghanaian film collaboration ‘Uncrushable’, has been postponed in the United States of America following the ban on social gatherings as a result of the COVID -19 outbreak in the area. According to the production company D.M.F Productions, the premieres of the film in America were organized by a group of African movie enthusiasts, who visited Ghana in December last year and were interested in promoting African content in the United States. A member of the American promoters Wande Faye, stated that the movie will still be shown in the United States but at later dates when the Coronavirus has died down. This information was contained in a statement published today by D.M.F Productions.
Initially scheduled to be premiered at the Diaspora African Forum in California on the 11th of April and also in Arizona on the 17th of April this year, showings of the movie ‘Uncrushable’ have been postponed following the limitations on social gatherings as a national directive as such ocassions could encourage the spread of the pandemic Corona virus. However, Wande Faye who is a member of a group of promoters of African content in the United states of America, who together with D.M.F Productions, planned the premieres of the film, assured the public in a press release that the movie will definitely be premiered in the United States but at later dates. “After weeks of negotiations, we decided to adopt the movie for screening at the Diaspora African Forum in California scheduled for April 2020, and also in Arizona in the same month. But it had to be shifted to a later date after the 8 weeks lock down in the U.S.A as a result of the Coronavirus. But, later dates will be announced soonest”, the statement read.
According to Mrs. Wande Faye, during they watched a previous film by D.M.F Productions and were impressed with the African setting, costume, and other elements that projected African Culture, and that’s what made them want to work with D.M.F Productions. “Uncrushable” will later be screened at Snap Cinemas inside the A.M.A building in Accra on the 13th of April 2020 and at the O’Deluxe Cinema in Lekki, Lagos Nigeria on the 1st of May 2020. The movie features Nigerian actor Yemi Blaq, Franca Brown, Nana Yaa Agyare, Kaduna International Film Festival Best Actress for 2018 Rabby Bray and others.
